Weddings take a lot of preparation and planning; this is because two people are preparing to give themselves to each other completely in marriage, and that family and friends are invited along to really celebrate the day two people become one through the bond of love that marriage brings. Those who seek to be married at St. Nicholas Church are taught the importance of praying earnestly that God will bless the forthcoming marriage, and that He is invited into the couples' lives so that His presence may abide in a deep and meaningful way. The fact that two people in love are to be married in Church says to all that witness the marriage that God is to be part of the marriage and there to bless it.
All who celebrate the love that the wedding couple have for each other are witnesses before Almighty God to the public act of commitment that a couple make for the rest of their lives on their wedding day. A good marriage is founded upon love, but it very importantly has to display a love that is grounded upon commitment towards one another; commitment that endures both in the good and the bad times.
At St. Nicholas, we readily want to celebrate the love two people have for each other, and, as such, we invite them to be part of our worshipping community before the wedding, and,, of course, afterwards.
God of wonder and of joy; grace comes from You and You alone are the source of life and love. Without You, we cannot please You; without Your love, our deeds are worth nothing. Send Your Holy Spirit and put into our hearts that most excellent gift of love, that we may worship You now with thankful hearts and serve You always with willing minds, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
